Longton has grown from around 5,500 residents at the 2001 census to more than 7,700 at the last one, though most of its housing is older than that growth suggests: the bulk of it went up in the 1960s and 70s, semis, detached houses and bungalows set back from the Liverpool Road shops, with the A59 bypass carrying through traffic to the east. St Andrew's Church, completed in 1887, and the Brickcroft, a brickworks that became a local nature reserve in 1998, are the older landmarks.

Wiring of that vintage is often at or past the end of its intended life. Boards of the period went in before RCDs were standard, kitchens were never wired for the number of appliances now plugged into them, and bungalows in particular have cable running through lofts that have since had insulation laid over it. We do full and partial rewires, consumer unit upgrades, dedicated kitchen and bathroom circuits, and EICRs for owners, landlords and buyers.

The shops, takeaways and small businesses along Liverpool Road need something different. We take on shop fitting, emergency lighting installation and testing, planned maintenance and fault finding for commercial premises.
