Hutton is a small parish three miles south-west of Preston, best known for the Lancashire Constabulary headquarters on Saunders Lane, built on the site of the old Hutton Hall, and the boys' grammar school on Liverpool Road, founded in 1552. Beyond those it is almost entirely residential: houses along Liverpool Road, Ratten Lane and Saunders Lane, mostly detached homes and bungalows from the second half of the last century, with a few listed seventeenth-century farmhouses and cottages among them.

Older installations here commonly have a rewireable fuse board, no RCD protection on the socket and lighting circuits, and main bonding to the gas and water services that predates current regulations. We carry out inspection and testing, consumer unit upgrades and full or partial rewires. Where a building is listed or of that age, cable routes can be planned around the fabric rather than cut through it.

Plots tend to be generous, so detached garages, workshops and garden rooms are common. Those need a correctly sized armoured supply and their own way in the board, not a lead out of a window. We install EV charge points on private driveways, external lighting and additional sockets, and take on fault finding.
