Leyland grew outwards from Leyland Motors, and the town still carries that shape: Broadfield, Turpin Green, Wade Hall and Moss Side set around the town centre and Worden Park. A great deal of the housing went up in the 1970s, and it's mostly semis, detached houses and bungalows rather than the terraced rows you find nearer Preston. A house of that age is often still on its first consumer unit, either rewireable fuses or an early board with no RCD protection, which is usually the first thing an EICR picks up.
